Texas
Bigfoot Communications L.P. was founded in
January 2005 by the way of a merger between Cougar Communications
and Houston 900 Networks. The two founding partners
of Texas Bigfoot Communications have over 50+ years
of combined experience in all phases of the design,
installation and servicing of two way radio systems
serving the various public, and private sectors of the
wireless industry.
In
1994, Richard Cogar founded Cougar Communications. The
company’s mission statement was to furnish their
clients with superior products and services with an
exceptional value for their capitol investment. In June
of 1998 Cougar Communications constructed their first
UHF trunk system in Houston, Texas. Cougar Communications
offered Houston based companies lower cost airtime services
than its competitors and further insured their diverse
customer base would never be at the mercy of a large
impersonal wireless corporation like Nextel, who at
the time was displacing many 800 and 900 radio systems
and users, trying to dictate how wireless communications
were to be operated, further leaving many local Houston
business users little opportunity to operate their business
radio systems the way they were accustomed to and happy
with for many years.
In
1978, Jeff Scott Cofsky started his communications career
with a Motorola MSS in New York City. In 1983 he moved
to Houston Texas seeking greener pastures. Since that
time he has gained his professional reputation as an
authority in FCC system licensing and wireless system
development and design in the Southwestern United States.
His resume includes being one of the top executives
in the radio industry in the Houston market since the
early 1980’s. In 1995, he formed Houston 900 Networks
and provided his customers the highest quality Motorola
Privacy Plus and Smartnet II Trunked Radio services
to the Houston market.
Cofsky
and Cogar had previously worked together in the early
90’s and experienced many successes in the Houston
Marketplace during their association together. They
continued to work together in various projects since
then and in mid 2004 they decided they should once again
join forces and deliver superior communications products
and services to the Houston market.
In
Early 2005, after the merger, the groundwork was completed
and construction of a new digital seamless radio network
called Passport NTS. Construction of the Houston Passport
network began in early March 2005. By the middle of
the second quarter of 2006, the initial I-45 North-South
corridor of the Houston Passport system was completed.
It offered users seamless wide area coverage from Galveston
to Huntsville Texas.
The
next phase of deployment is currently in the final planning
stages to add the I-10 East-West corridor and expected
completion to the network is in late 2007, further increasing
coverage from Beaumont to Columbus, Texas.
Beyond
2007, TBC anticipates connecting the Houston-Beaumont
network to other Passport operators in Texas to offer
all Texas Passport customers the “Biggest Footprint”
in Texas ever!
